BYC Café

Good evening everyone!

@DobieLover How are you getting on? Hopefully you will be able to have it all set up nicely for tomorrow. :fl

@Shadrach How did the vet appointment go for your rooster? Do you know now what ailed him and is it treatable?
She doesn't know what is wrong with him.
She thinks like I do that he has a heart problem, but can't say exactly what type.
There isn't much that can be done.

That is disappointing. But at least you can try the hawthorn (crataegus), as it will not have adverse effects.
Acknowledging she doesn't know is just one of the reasons I like and have liked my vet Gloria for many years.
She trained as an avian vet but hasn't practised since qualifying. I'm the only person that takes chickens to her. She's done wonders in the past with very little equipment and practise.
She mainly deals with cats and dogs and when I first turned up with a chicken she thought I was mad. She probably still does think I'm mad, but she always does her best to help, even when I haven't had the money to pay her.
She saved a few chickens for me over the years but now, thanks to her instruction and willingness to prescribe drugs over the phone, I can do a lot that in the past she would have had to do for me.

A vet like that is worth their weight in gold!

And the same goes for a doctor/physician. I only trust those who are willing to concede that their knowledge has its limits and sometimes the patient is better acquainted with his own body and its reactions. And those who are willing and open to learn from their patients experience too.
Communication at eye level is key.

I have absolute faith that she will come up with another project.

Yep. You know me pretty well on that front.

Next Project?

My house, my trailer, my car, mySELF.

With a bit of luck they'll be wrong about that to.

If they are anything like the forecasters here, you won't even need any luck. They'll be wrong.

We got a lot done. But it's not quite ready for the appraisal. The husband is going to be there at 7:00 this morning and will strictly focus on moving all the tools out, putting paints and supplies downstairs on the shelving and cleaning.
He will also put the casing around the two doors I hung.
I worked from 8:30 to 6:00 and came home for a second meal and to take care of the animals and DH then went back from 7:30 to 10.
We'll do fine for the appraisal.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is on.

I have to roust DH in a few minutes to give him time to get dressed while I tend the flock. He has his preadmission blood work and EKG today for his biopsy procedure next Friday along with his Covid test for his Monday Colonoscopy. He goes back to the hospital Tuesday for his Covid test for his biopsy.
After his tests this morning, I'll bring him home, we'll have some breakfast then I head back out the door to go to work. I will likely take a half day as I don't think I'll make it 10 hours there. And poor Bella hasn't run in several days and she's stir crazy so I want to get home in time to get her out before it's dark. I'm pretty sure that will run my tank to empty.
Everyone have a great day!!

This flood light on a timer is working great for predawn chores.
