BYC Café

Good afternoon everyone and thanks for the coffee @DobieLover !

Your modified vacation plans sound very alluring and much better than being trapped on a cruise ship (at least for me). And by making wonderful plans one is already savouring some of the pleasuring anticipation in advance.

Catching up

Hopefully a dozen chickens with no selling (just some sharing with friends) should pass muster with no further action/questions/policy changes.
I sell some to friends but my insurance company doesn't have a problem unless "agricultural sales" are at least half my income. I'd starve if that was the case, as it is I've spent far more money on the birds than I've made on the eggs.

According to that, when I input the best case, least severe symptoms along with his latest MMSE score, the longest he could be expected to live is 7 years.

That is a pretty harsh reality to face :hugs
He's only 2 years older than me.

The bathroom has obviously not seen my remodeling hands yet. Just sayin'.
I noticed but I wasn't going to say anything ;) Of course now that you are about done with Dad's house you'll have time to do something for yourself on your house. You do give so much to others!

Only the right eye. Left still needs to be done. She sees me pretty clearly.
After having the first one done, she might not get the other one done and will want a pirate patch for the right eye any time you are around ;)
Just kidding of course!!!!!

Bet your cocoa on it.
Tomorrow is National Hot Chocolate Day (in case anyone needs an excuse)

Out of the chickens I have in that coop it could be an Ameraucana, Cream Legbar or Easter Egger.
Those would be about the only options, at least of the breeds I know. Of those I've only had EE's and none have laid anywhere near that shade of blue.

@Meg-in-MT those are some clean eggs. Are your hens trained to wipe their feet prior to entering the nests ?
Most of my girls lay clean eggs. A friend came to visit maybe a year and a half ago. He was amazed that the eggs came out clean. He assumed they needed to be washed to look like that.

Then I found an awesome little studio cabin in Vermont. I booked it for mid-September during peak fall foliage.
Where and how "mid"? One can pretty much be guaranteed peak foliage SOMEWHERE in the state the last week of Sept through the first week of October. Depending on the year you might find it as early as the 3rd week of Sept or as late as the 2nd week of October. Outside of that you will have color but not peak. Peak "moves" south and down hill as time progresses. Try to find a valley with a road on the "non lit" side; nothing more spectacular than looking across an open expanse of trees to a sunlit hillside. Since you said "mid" September I'd focus on the Northeast Kingdom.

I spent the day looking for places for DH and I to go on vacation. We haven't been away for nearly 4 years. And with him getting so much worse, I don't want to put anything off any more.
The plan had always been to go on an Alaskan cruise. The lines have all been docked since March. When they finally can sail, I don't think they'll let passengers board without having a complete vaccine. I'll never get mine any time soon.
I found a beach house in DE right on Delaware Bay about an hour away from Assateague National Park. I booked it for the third week in May.
Then I found an awesome little studio cabin in Vermont. I booked it for mid-September during peak fall foliage.
The dogs and Mogwai will come with us. My nephew (NOT useless nephew) will stay at our house and look after the flock both times.
Didn't you guys used to do the Fall day cruises & have lunch at a special place? Are those places still open during covid? I wonder if he would remember either of them?
