BYC Café

Good morning Cafe and thanks for the coffee, Sour.
I slept in. I really needed it.
It was nice to visit with the flock this morning without being nervous about seeing a bird in distress. I'm also delighted to report that all the poops on the board looked magnificent! :love
We have a light snow falling but the temps have dipped into the low teens.
I tried to run the dogs yesterday. Skittles kept falling through the 8" of snow and I had to trudge back to get him then carry him to the car and put him in. Then Bella wouldn't run in it and followed in my path about 0.0537" from my feet so her aim was frequently off and she kept stepping on me.
We are going up to dad's former house today to gather the last of the things I left there. We should close this week. I allowed the buyers to move in. They will put the NYSEG in their names tomorrow with the reading they took yesterday morning. They replaced the carpet in the sitting room last week and had Spectrum cable out Wednesday to hook up cable. Last night was the first night they slept in their new house.
I will be bringing Bella with me. They have a very spunky, smart West Highland Terrier that just turned 1 year old and he loves big dogs. I'm hoping he and Bella hit it off and have a grand time playing. She needs to burn off some energy.
I'm sorry you had to let Seneca go, DL. You did such a great job with her. I'm glad you're both at ease/peace now.:hugs

That's great they've moved in! How nice to have good people taking over your dad's house. Hopefully Bella makes a fast friend!

I'm so sorry about Seneca, DL. I hope her being out of her misery helps give you some peace.

Very cold today. 7 above when I got up. Intermittent filtered sunshine here is blindingly bright on the snow, but pretty.

Two eggs today, and I got both of them while they were still warm. :yesss:

I put a dish of snow in the coop, and as far as I can tell, the chickens haven't ventured outside yet. I have food in the coop, but not water. I'm glad they like to eat the snow, or I'd have to worry. I'll give them some warm mash in an hour or so. In the coop, because they're spoiled. And I'm a softie.

How did it go, does Bella have a new buddy?

Number one is going down the road. This is the 3rd year in a row she's repeatedly slammed her calf into whatever she can slam her against. Too much stress for us and the calf.
What is wrong with her? Does she hurt so much calving that she is taking it out on the newborn calf?

I'm not sure what it is. Could be that she's knows the calf was the source of her pain.... At first. But she acts like it's competition. If the calf gets near her food she'd pile drive her. It gets to a certain point and seems to click with her and she accepts it.
