Looks like it from the picture. Did it get damaged in the incubator?Wry neck?
Well, I only replied as this could be part of the fertility issue you are seeing?Yes, I know why it's frowned upon. I don't recommend my way of doing it, as I wouldn't want to steer anyone in the wrong direction. What works for some may not be the best path for others. It works for me.
If I find I can supplement something that is lacking or diluted to the point of causing a problem, I sure will. I have no interest in harming my birds.
SHRA.It keeps doing it! Head normal for a sec then straight back, and keeps ending up on its backThis is the one that was stuck to the shell. I'm guessing that's what it is and I do have vitamin E, but I'm just not sure

I used to cut the chicken feed with organic wheat to save money on feed. Currently organic wheat is more expensive than the feed though so I do not use it anymoreWell, I only replied as this could be part of the fertility issue you are seeing?
I just don't understand adding grains to a formulated and balanced feed.
Are you mixing them together or serving the grains up separately?

I thought your chickens free ranged Meg?I took no offense.
ETA: but I did not realize what you were thinking.
It's cheaper and they seem to do just fine on it. I do mix it. Of course they eat the goods first, but clean up the pellets.
I don't know if you saw, but she looks right as rain this morning after a dose of vitamin E last night. She was stuck to the shell by her umbilical cord, but otherwise no issue. Pipped and zipped fairly quickly.Looks like it from the picture. Did it get damaged in the incubator?
I do free range all year, to an extent. Not much to eat in the winter time compared to summer. They still cleanup around the cows/pigs/goats, pick through hay and straw, afterbirthI thought your chickens free ranged Meg?
All the talk about feed and balanced diets isn't really applicable when it comes to free range chickens.
Don't any of your hens go broody?
Ah, so green and prettyGood evening Cafe.
I've made tea. Help yourselves.
The rockery in front of the main house is falling down. Water has got behind the stones and washed out stones that I can't even lift!
Another lovely day here. Lots of stuff thinks it's spring.
