Anyone else noticing an overabundance of carpenter bees this year?

Eh, a few more than usual this year.
They are funny, dive bombing you walking around the coop.
Rascal hated them, was scared...didn't know the diff between them and yellow jackets.

I could not believe how much the grass grew in the one week we were gone. I had finally gotten to cut it the day before we left. I should have shot it into rifts and baled it, it was so long.
It looked about the same when we got home!
I went out to lock up the flock at 8:40 then hopped on the tractor and mowed the pen with the headlights. I just kept going and mowed the whole yard in the dark. It looks surprisingly good this morning. I just have to hit a few spots I wouldn't do in the dark, hit everything with the string trimmer and a few small areas with the push mower.
I want to plant my veggie garden and mulch between the raised beds. And if I'm going to the nursery for bedding plants, I'm going to get this years annual flowers and plant those too. Right back to the races I go...

We are into the time of year when mowing can be very two weeks.

It is nice to get the lawn mowed!

Every two weeks? With the amount of rain we get, here it is every 4-5 days.

We do not get any rain in late spring to late Fall here. We have to irrigate lol!

I also have slow growing fescue since it is drought tolerant.

My plans seem to be all surviving this year so far.
Need to pick up meds today and dog food.

I needed to do a calcium infusion on the flock. I've got a regular who is laying softies that break and gook up the eggs in that box. I mix a handful of OS with a big gob of Greek yogurt and put dollops of it all over the pen on flat rocks.
I checked the nest boxes when I went in and found little Miss Broody Pants in there AGAIN! She is now in the crate having a grand fit. I caught her early because she laid an egg yesterday. It's cooling down here so I hope I can crack her in a day or two.

I met with Animal Control. They brought up hay for the two horses owned by the lady that was in jail and now apparently is on the lam with an arrest warrant following her around. In 10 to 20 days they will be gone, hopefully not to auction as they are pretty nice horses, but not my deal when they leave. =Stupid people leave behind a trail of destruction!
