Lord knows it stormed here last night
Here too:

I keep the chicken "butt tub" on a table outside the front door. I positioned it under the eave of the coop to see how much water it would collect. It's about 2" from full. I'd estimate the tub is 9" tall. That's a lot of water run off.
It's also much cooler. It's 54 now and should stay under 70 today.
Thanks for the coffee, Sour.

Every time I move Bella is on me like white on rice. She wants to go run. It hasn't stopped drizzling since this morning. I put her and Skittles out to illustrate the point. That knocked her down a peg but just one.

I had grand plans to clean up a bunch of stuff to take down to the consignment store to get rid of, then clean up and take pictures of all the extra tools/building supplies I have that I want gone. But I have no where to do that but outside. In the rain. So, no thank you.

I also need to set up the wet nest, give Astrid a booty bath and dust her with Poultry dust preventively before she's all set for the hatching eggs this Wednesday.
She's locked and ready to be loaded. She is reliably returning to the nest through the flock on her own and is now in pancake form. She looks like a puddle of hen on the nest.

Just finished a rather tricky surgery on my La Flèche rooster's middle toe.

He broke off his toe nail some weeks ago and Friday afternoon I noticed the toe suddenly swollen to almost double the normal size. After soaking in a epsom salt bath and cleaning everything nicely, I put on antibiotic ointment and wrapped his toe up. He did not even limp the next two days, just went about his business as usual.

Tonight I just wanted to change the bandage, but after soaking it suddenly looked like a bumble on the tip of his toe right under his broken and splitted toe nail. And after cutting off the scab - oh dear - what a nasty surprise!
It took me more than half an hour to dig out all the gunk and flush etc., all the while I needed one hand to slow the blood supply, or else I would have seen nothing but blood.
Sometimes I wish I had some more hands/arms just like this Indian goddess Kali.

After the procedure I offered him some cheese while still sitting on my lap, and he devoured it, so not holding grudge! :yesss:

Now we are both recovering. :caf

Nice job! An extra set of hands would also have been able to take some pictures of everything.
