Two full days at the pond gym and I'm feeling it something fierce.
My floating friends ran away from home and flew up here to NY. They're visiting today. I haven't seen them in 4 years.

DL, that is nice of your neighbor to help out. Dirt toys just want to play in dirt!
One of the plant hunters is a budding herbalist and my friend has health issues and would like some extra backup. We will plant hunt again in the fall when it is time to get ready for virus season.

Had two nasty nests (broken eggs) yesterday, never had that before.
Heard a lot of squawking down there, whether they were fighting over the egg snacks or that's what broke them or both, I dunno.

They changed the forecast for today from 89 to 83 with some rain this afternoon(YAY!!).
Few more cooler days before another multi-day heat wave with mid to high 80's.

They live on a houseboat down in Jacksonville FL. They sailed it out of Cayuga lake down the intercoastal waterway to get there. They also sailed it across the Caribbean twice and island hopped for about a 1.5 - 2 years.

So hoping for some rain. I left some laundry on the line to tempt Mother Nature.

I'm making lentil soup in the Instant Pot. Home grown onions and garlic included. The onions are from my bed of Egyptian Walking Onions.

My floating friends just left. We had a great time!
I thought it was funny when after I showed them the chickens and we came inside and sat down, I went over to the freezer and got an ice pack to hold against my head and chest to cool off and after about 10 minutes in the house, they wandered back outside into the heat!

We went to Home Depot. Bought last 4 roof panels and concrete to put in the cement blocks to stop the rats ...

Bella seems to have recovered mostly from having a woodchuck the size of Skittles dangling from her bottom jaw yesterday morning. I never told that story. I had to go to a neighbors house for a bowl of water and paper towels to clean up the blood to get her in the car. Her tongue was lacerated and as well as her left lower lip. A stream of blood was flowing from her mouth when that thing finally let go.
I really hope she learned a valuable lesson yesterday about not diving straight into the face of a woodchuck again...

HolyShit!! Scary stuff.

Very scary indeed. That tongue BLED. It was a stream. And she was worked up and overheated and panting while I was putting pressure on the cut. That's hard to do.
