BYC Café

Unable to determine a trigger. She is an extremely active dog, excitement does not appear to be causative. Stays at the boarding kennel and previous groomings have not resulted in seizures. Most seizures start when she is sleeping. Last night the second seizure occurred while she was walking from the dining room into the living room. We had a golden who would seize when coming in heat. Maggie was spayed at 8 months of age.

Good morning Cafe I am so sorry you have to deal with this.
May I ask did you tell the breeder of is?
Absolutely. She says that she has had no problems with her dogs, and I tend to believe her. The groomer meets us at the breeder's place as she also grooms all of her dogs. The groomer is unaware of any problems and was very surprised that Maggie seizes.

All day long Maggie has been glued to me. Just staring, trying to tell me something. No playing - just staring. She was under the computer table with her head on my feet as I posted a conversation to roomonthebroom. Just as I hit post she tensed, reared up and went into another mega seizure - the sixth in 36 hours. She was telling me that it was time. We just got back from the vet's. Maggie will suffer no more. Elaine is grieving/wrecked. I'm playing the man card and being strong. I really loved this damn dog that I never wanted.

How very sad, she was so young.

The only consolation is that she is released from suffering.

I know only too well how it is, as we had to put our Rhodesian Ridgeback Paul down because of his ongoing and untreatable seizures getting worse and more violent with each time. But at least he lived to 10,5 years old.
