BYC Café

I've been on a "clean the house out" phase. That included going through my freezer to make room for homemade raw diet for Piper. I found a bowl of beef bone marrow from back when I made bone broth. I put it outside for the birds to eat. I made the very bad mistake of putting it on an old chair in one of the flower gardens. Bella found it and ate the whole thing! It was a little over a cup of beef fat! I went inside and got the hydrogen peroxide and shot about three tablespoons down her throat and she almost immediately threw up but it wasn't very much.
About an hour later she was desperate to get out outside and a veritable jet of diarrhea shot out her back side. Now her intestines are oozing a clear liquid so that's draining out her back side. She's laying on her wubby and an old bath towel. I rolled up the area rug to save it. She's one miserable little girl right now.

Oh yes, and around 5 pm the well guys finally showed up. Turns out that the people who owned this place before us used to pour chlorine down the well. It ate the fittings to the pump, and the only thing keeping the pump from falling down into the well were the electric wires! So it cost us $500 to get the pump repaired. I am so excited to get a bath and wash my hair!

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

Long night. I slept on the couch so it'd be easier to take Skittles out when he needed to. The full effects of the anesthesia have yet to wear off and he doesn't really know what to do with himself. He's much better this morning after a good night's sleep but still not 100%. He's eating, drinking, peeing, pooping and getting up and down the stairs himself. He's not even limping.

Bella has stopped leaking nasty oozage and was able to have breakfast this morning. Much to her delight.

And I'm cautiously optimistic about Wren. She roosted herself last night and that was the first time in several days that I didn't find her in a nest box. This morning when I went out to feed them I was late because of last night's activities and she was already off the roost. And she was actively jockeying for food out of the mash bowl! Very energetic. I also didn't find any sloppy yellow poops under her roost spot last night. I'm going to continue with the antibiotics for the full course.

Here you’re allowed to fill out the mail in ballot & drop it at the polling place day of. It’s much quicker & you don’t have to touch anything or breathe other people’s air.
The state mailed appropriate ballots to every registered voter in the state, started in 2020 with Covid. I like it!! You can mail it in, drop it at the Town Clerk's office or bring it to the polling place filled out or not. If you lose it or screw it up you can get a ballot on voting day at the polling place (school).

I dropped ours in the ballot box at the town clerk's office the day before the election. There was a second ballot for a school bond vote because they didn't get it to the state in time to be put on the other ballot. The paper said there was an hour long line at times at the school. The bond passed, just barely, and since you had to ask the clerk to mail that ballot or vote it in person; presumably a lot of those people in line were there only for the bond vote. There are people angry about the bond vote, one guy REALLY angry to the point of posting some nasty threatening stuff on the Front Porch Forum. I guess we'll be seeing a petition to revote the bond.

Speaking of screwing up, the paper had a post election list of results for all races in the county. Listed each candidate, how many votes they got, how many write ins, how many left blank and how many "over votes". I ASSUME that means the person voted for more than the max allowed for that race (some have 2 state representatives, senators, Justice of the Peace). In EVERY case, other than the state rep race in my town, that number was 5 or less. There were 644 overvotes for our state rep race. Mark no more than 2 it said. 644?!?!?!? Do we REALLY have that many stupid people in the district? Hell, there are only about 13,000 RESIDENTS in the 2 towns. I really hope that was an error on the part of the paper.

The range was $1,719-$2,291 with both. I asked for another without the dental and it was $842-$1,311. He goes in Monday morning.
$900 dental? OUCH

And made this gorgeous labradorite necklace for me too.
Lovely. she is very talented.

Someone here on BYC sometime back posted that you shouldn't pour chlorine down the well (now we know why!) and said what you SHOULD dump in it. Does anyone recall that, who it was and/or what it was?
