BYC Café

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving Day! We gather with family and friends and just share food and chat. Not much different from any other family dinner except for the food served.
I like the way Cate Shanahan, MD describes "eating natural" in her books.
She has one called Food Rules that is easy to read and concise in what she recommends for making changes. The Fat Burn Fix is also a good one for paying attention to how you are feeling while you make changes and sets a guideline to follow based on your reactions. I think that is helpful for people that don't even have a start on healthy eating. From there you can then decide to go full carnivore or some other version of healthy eating based on how you feel and what you do.

I have a book that I like to reference. The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet by Robb Wolf. He writes well. The material is presented with lots humor and it keeps you engaged.
It's basically pre-agricultural revolution eating aka, hunter/gatherer: no grains, no dairy (humans are the only mammal that continue to consume dairy past infancy), no processed foods/sugars. It's actually an entire lifestyle and mindset.
I'm not a purist. I still indulge is frozen custard or yogurt or ice cream and will have naughty deserts today at my sisters. But I eat 95% Paleo.
The recipe I will be making is this. It's delicious!! :drool
Thank you, I will investigate further

Just found out that oldest grand daughter was attacked by a dog while running two days ago. Thankfully it was in town, and people were there to get the dog off of her. Muscle torn out of her left arm, and significant trauma to her left buttock and thigh. :barnie

On a happier note, son and his family are visiting. Along with them is middle grand daughter's golden/doodle puppy. 7 months old - he's a sweetheart. NO we are not getting another dog.

That's horrible!!
How old is the GD?
Did they capture the dog?
Hope she heals well and as fast as possible

grand daughter is 27. Dog has been captured - known history of aggressive behavior. Grand daughter is on IV antibiotics and has to go to a trauma center daily for wound assessment and evaluation. There is a possibility that she will need skin grafts.
I hope that dog is euthanized. What a horrible thing to happen.
