BYC Café

Good morning Cafe! Thanks for the coffee.

Crunchy around here too - had a lovely drive from Cape Breton down to Halifax this morning.

I'm sorry to hear that @Mtn Margie 🙁 I have avoided Covid thus far (despite being well-exposed at a Cape Breton kitchen party last summer, and likely other places too, though I am careful). Hopefully you escape unscathed from this one!

Good morning! Loving the coffee!
Well, I have been exposed to Covid. A No Good Deed Goes Unpunished thing...
something about a 51yo friend of mine whos daughter (11yo) gave her a surprise party at a roller-skating rink...lol! We truly did surprise the jump out of her so it was worth it. I'll let you know if I am just flying over Covidia or maybe landing to vacation for a bit. I probably just came back from there but my passport never got stamped.
We have snow coming in but they are not talking amounts yet, just wind, breezes, flowing air, whatever.
Enjoy the day, Cafe!
Fly over :fl

One must exercise extreme caution when playing "chase the stuffy" with Piper because when she goes to grab it and misses it and grabs you instead, it hurts!

Needle teeth!

Here's a Dobie story from Shadow, our first Dobe. She was about 3 yo when this happened.

We were playing tug with a tennis ball. She had the ball, and it was slobbery/slippery. I had my hand in her mouth, basically. She shifted her teeth to get a better grip, and pinched the flesh of my thumb. She didn't break the skin, but it was a hard pinch.

I yelped and jerked my hand away. She sat down, dropped the ball, her ears went down, and she started licking my hand, as if to say, "Oh, mom, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I'm so so sorry!"

She was such a sweetheart.

I finally made the lid for Piper's pen. I cut grooves centered on the bottoms of the 2x3s then screwed them together and screwed a 2x3 so that the gap that she got her leg caught in is blocked. The board acts as a stop for the gate.

I got lucky that the Porta-Potty fits through the gate so I should be able to just reach in to clean and change the pad.

Piper has shown me already that she's not a fan of loud noises. It certainly isn't at a phobia type level but it makes her very concerned. Needless to say she did not like me driving the screws in with the power driver or slamming the staples in with the pneumatic stapler. After she ran into the bedroom four different times and came back out on her own I decided to just lock her in her bed time crate with Bella in the room until I was finished building and cleaning up.
Afterwards she decided she wanted to go get some comfort from big sis! Bella kept licking her.

Well, that almost looks like Guantanamo to me!

Is there any chance that you might be able to take little Piper to work? You could have her there in a nice crate and take her for a walk or just a little pee whenever she needs it...
I know of several dog owners (friends and acquaintances) that are allowed to bring their dogs to work.

Donna is such a good Momma Bear :love

Ouch! I had the same problem with Ollie at first, but Stuffy on a string or leash will solve this problem. And screaming/screetching like a demon every time his teeth got me... 👹
