BYC Café

Thanks for the coffee Orca.

We think mom has decided to leave much sooner than the doctors predicted. Likely within the next day or two. We all rallied around her last night and told her we love her and that dad is waiting for her and there is nothing to fear.

I am ever so grateful that I put my pain aside to reconnect with her before she leaves. We are both at peace with our relationship for what it is. She has told me multiple times that she loves me and that is all I really needed to hear. She's heard it from me many times over the last several days.
I never got to tell my Dad good bye, and it's like an open sore that never heals.

Both my dad's and my son's death went unattended, many things left unresolved.

Got 'er done!

Main shade cloth is up, feeling a bit shaky physically, but in one piece.

All of the dogs are very curious about the pond. They like to walk on the rocks surrounding the edge.
Skittles is not sure of foot any longer. I had partially dozed off laying on the deck next to the pond when I heard a splash. It was pretty easy to reach over the edge and just fish him out. I wonder how long it'll be before he pulls this one again.

I know laughing was wrong, but he looks so embarassed.
You should have seen him trying to swim to the edge then realize he couldn't get out that way. He'd have to swim to the beach to get out.
The good news is, I don't leave my dogs out unless I'm out with them and I'm constantly looking to see where they are.

I'm glad you were able to do that. :hugs

My second Dobie, Abby, jumped into a flooded creek on vacation in WV. She weighed 85 pounds. The water was rushing so fast she got pulled in face first and shot backwards through a pipe under the road my dad and I were walking across, popped up on the other side then got sucked right back down and was going downstream FAST. I gave Fuji's leash to dad and jumped in after Abby. I caught her collar and managed to get my feet on the creek bottom and hoist her towards me, get behind her and shove her out.
I dragged myself out and that's when I remembered my phone was in my back pocket. Skittles in a goldfish pond was a piece of cake to pull out!

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I've started 8 eggs under Astrid this morning. She FINALLY hit three successful returns to the wet nest on her own with no correction. I thought she was going to screw up this morning because she flew up to the boards and started walking toward the nest boxes clucking away but then turned around, walked down the ramp and made a bee-line for her nest. I still closed the door most of the way so only Jody and her chick can slip in there with her to sleep and the chick can use the water bottle. I'll test her 2 more times today to make certain she is fully grafted.
