Agreed. They are fully feathered, they don't need a huddle box, they need a perch...
The box is also too small.
They way I've done huddle boxes in the past is to leave just one flap on the front of the box hanging down with the side flaps removed. It makes it more open.
But these tips will be for the next time you have chicks unless you let a broody do the job which just simply can't be beat.
Astrid's eggs are due to start cracking tonight and she should have chicks under her tomorrow morning. I need to get out there and give her one last broody break, close the door to the ward and refill her water bottle for her.
Thank you.DL, I hope Skittles perks back up and it was just a "thing" and we all know that you would / will do whatever he needs. Hugs and many more for you!
I talked to my sister about it and she agrees with my decisions. I guess I wanted to talk to her simply because I feel so overwhelmed with all that is going on and needed some confirmation. My headache is here first thing in the morning instead at night. The stress is really taking it's toll on me. I typically end every day with a headache.
I brought Mom home yesterday and placed her next to Dad. They'll stay with me until the internment this fall. I talk to them a lot.
It's going to rain this afternoon so I've got to get the dogs out for their run soon. I have to really push myself to get going when I feel like this. I hope Skittles is anxious to go and enjoys himself. It will tell me a lot about how he's really feeling.
