BYC Café

Got the bedding changed out this afternoon, that was long overdue-tho not to any real detriment(smell).
Also got the poop buckets moved and staged for delivery tomorrow.
....and killed a baldfaced hornet nursery and the very beginnings of a paper wasp nest.
Saw the hornet nest a few days ago, been stewing over how to remove it, finally just squirted it with some engine fogger.
Pretty accomplished day for this lazy old crone.

I took the huddle box out of the brooder. It was not serving its purpose, even though I did see a couple of them wander in. This is their last night inside, I think.

I have to put up the fence dividing the coop, and fashion a door into the littles' part. If I get that done tomorrow after I get home from Chickenstock, they'll go out to the coop. Otherwise, I'll do it on Sunday.

Is it better to put them out there close to dusk, or earlier in the day? @DobieLover , @aart, anyone? What's your opinion?

I'd put them out earlier in the day, so you can observe them getting used to the new environment before roost time.

Earlier in the day to give them a chance to adjust.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

The forecast for today when we made our plans to go the Strawberry Festival was light rain in the morning. It has changed to be a sunny mild day.

I lifted one of Astrid's wings this morning to check for peeps and one was wiggling out of it's shell so I dropped her wing and let them be.

Good morning Cafe! I took a couple day break from the internet and the regular routine. I was out on the boat again yesterday morning and met some more fishy friends (as always, they were carefully and quickly released back to the sea).

This is a Lumpfish! They have sucker on the bottom made from specially adapted pectoral fins! My first time seeing one in the wild.

@DobieLover Have a great day !
Off to a good start.
I ran into Cocoa's mom when I ran the dogs and while we were walking her husband drove down with their gator. At first Piper was terrified of the thing but eventually she overcame her fears.
She jumped in and started snooping around.
