BYC Café

I learned something new today! 3 of the new hens hopped the rodent fence into the garden... My DH could not get them out and came in to get me to help but then did not follow me into the garden to help. I tried being nice getting them to hop out but they were playing dumb. I now know that if you pick up a handful of dirt and wing it at them while screaming, "Jump, Forrest, Jump!", they hop, jump, and fly out of there like they are on fire! My DH didn't know what to think as I was laughing my bahookie off. :lau He was speechless and I am still giggling...

We got the coop addition done. Man, am I tired. I'm not used to standing all day long, like I did when I was at work.

I turned the heat plate off for the littles today. I hope to move them to their area of the coop (the addition) on Sunday or Monday. They'll be shut in the coop for a few days, then get their own area of the run for a "look, don't touch" integration period.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

We had a wonderful day of rain and thunderstorms yesterday. The ground soaked it all up like a sponge but it sure did help. We have more rain coming tomorrow and Saturday.

My entire family is taking a break from our battle against CS to attend the 41st Annual Owego Strawberry Festival this Saturday morning. We plan to get there before everything fully opens to just stroll around then leave before it starts to get too hot and too crowded.

Good morning! Back to clouds and cool weather with a decent chance of rain.
Snow in the high country. The passes will be treacherous this summer!
Sunday is the first day of no rain even mentioned in a very long time.
I saw chickens eyeballing the garden, but no brave souls. LOL!
We will put a higher fence up to keep out the newbies.
