Power went out last night, and i didn't have to worry about incubators. Nice feeling. I did worry about the air conditioning, but power is back on now.

Just got a text from the house sitter. After spending the day away, he came home and found our old, overweight cat had died. It’s not a surprise, but still…

He was the best with little kids! He’d let the little ones pet him, comb him, pull on his hair, ears and tail and would just lay there. If and older kid tried any of those things, he’d swat them and walk away.

My daughter has a cat and he likes me just fine but there's no way I can walk into their house and just start petting him. He has to sniff my hand first. I guess he wants to know who I've been out carousing with.

We've got wildfire smoke down here again but the AQI is only at 117. Not great but not horrible.

Good morning Cafe! It's a bit breezy here, which is nice! The pilot whales arrived in coastal waters for the first time yesterday - I had a feeling, so drove the 1.5 hours to get on the boat that our observer is based off of. They seem to show up on a new moon. The garden is doing quite well and I'm happy to have a relatively quiet week again.
