No. His head position didn't start until he got to Absolut after being in the hospital for 12 days without anyone taking him out of the bed to walk.
Every time I read your post... I think of the vodka. Odd name for a nursing home.

I am so sorry for your struggles with your DH... difficult anyway you slice it

DD1 planned and executed her wedding in VA. We gave her money .... and pressured her to spend some of it on a wedding planner to run the show. No way she would have enjoyed her day if she had to oversee everything.
Bruce, sounds like your daughter had a lovely wedding.

I know someone up here who was trying hard to spend as little as possible on the wedding... so they served halibut that a friend had caught...

The halibut was noticeably full of worms, and one guest was all "huh, my piece had a bunch of worms in it. Does your piece have worms in it? How many?" Etc. Memorable. They got married maybe 25 years ago?
DH and I did our own. $10/5 minutes in front of a judge. It's lasted 34 plus years, so I think we got our money's worth. :gig

Both my parents were deceased. I never had daydreams about a fairytale wedding. What a big fn waste, imo.

I tell people, spend the money on the photographer, not the caterer. You will have the pictures to look at years from now. You won't remember the food, unless it's spectacularly bad, in which case, it'll be funny years from now.
Other than a vehicle one needs to get to work, borrowing money for depreciable "assets" is not a wise idea. And a wedding isn't even an asset, only a memory.

I appreciate all the wedding stories!

I was under the impression that the bride and the mother of the bride set everything up... the father of the bride pays for it... at least, more or less.

So, it was good to hear of other ways to do things.

Anyway.... with them wanting to get married here in town, and my son away at college, and his almost bride to be in the Netherlands... it rather sounded to me as if I would be doing most of the "stuff" of running around and calling etc.

I am still not fully sure about that... and probably will not know for sure until Christmas.

Luckily, the almost- bride-to-be wants a very small wedding. So, it shouldn't be much work... my only worry is that even with a small wedding, since our church is tiny, we might need to rent a tent....

I know in the past with weddings a tent has been rented to help add church space... I don't even know who to call for such a thing.... :idunno

Anyway, it shouldn't be too bad... it SHOULD be pretty easy.

At least I know for sure that I will have nothing to do with the bride's dress! :D

Pretty neat thing happened today when I took a tray of frozen grapes out for cool down time for the chickens. As I approached the gate, a small flock of turkeys (a mother with her over half grown poults) was immediately on the other side of the electric fence. They saw me and started to run off into the woods.
The chickens saw me at the same time and came stampeding towards me. The turkeys stopped dead in their tracks in awe and watched the chickens swarm me and get fed their grapes. When the chickens were walking off with their grapes and the commotion was pretty much over, the turkeys casually wandered around in the woods without any concern about my presence any longer.
