BYC Café

DH got a room rather quickly this time vs last. His fever is gone, he ate like a pig this morning and is doing well.
I made a call to the social work unit at the hospital and explained all my concerns about Absolut and my fear that pushing the negligence charge may cause DH more harm than good and that I needed an advocate that knows the system and can help me navigate it to improve DHs care.
I told her about the admin at Absolut telling me that DH was #2 on the list to go to Vestal Park and the first time I heard that was 3 months ago. When I mentioned that to the ambulance transporters, they almost laughed and said "there is a huge turn over rate at VP". The hospital social worker is going to do what she can to try to get him discharged to VP if at all possible and will help manage his care if he ends up back at Absolut.

@DobieLover I'm so glad to hear that the hospital social worker is going to assist with his care if he goes back to Absolut. It sounds like they should be investigated for maltreatment of patients, also sounds like they wasn't feeding him if he ate like a pig this morning. I hope the social worker does look into the care there. Please keep us updated.

Hugs, DL :hugs
So what was the trigger to have him transported at 7 pm? They could have done it much earlier if it was the week long fever or the sore. They sound incompetent or so understaffed that they are unaware of the needs for proper patient care on an individual level.
I so hope his care can be improved to the point of not having to worry about the basic daily needs! Sheez...
On a positive note, DS$ comes home for a short break tomorrow!
He will be back at school for training after Christmas.
I made fudge yesterday because the weather was yuck! I will eat fudge today because the weather is still yuck!

They had called a little after 5 to get my authorization to send him to the ER. Another patient on the rehab floor was critical and had to go first. Then the ambulance came back for him.

They would have had to have actually called me when it first started. They neglected to do so.
The one saving grace is that the antibiotic they had him on prevented the pneumonia from getting really bad.

Cafe good evening one and all!

Tea is ready.

I'm trying to get to all my BYC emails before I go to bed.

I spent 11 hours at the hospital today waiting on my hubby to have a blood clot removed from his left eg from the groin to his knee.

The physician did not bother to come by his room to let me know how he was doing and what he had done to remove the clots.

They had moved him to ICU.

They will notify me tomorrow if they have to take him back to the cath lab.

@DobieLover You have my empathy for dealing with a nursing home and I have two good shoulders if you need to lean on them.

Temperature is in the 50s.

Have a great day!

Sounds like you've had a long day. Get some much needed rest while you can. Hope your husband does well.
