Oh, man, people who don't have wells don't know the fun they miss out on, eh?

At the barn where I worked, we had fire ants that kept getting into the pump house. I treated all the mounds I could find around it, don't know why I couldn't seem to get rid of them. Anyway, for some reason they seemed attracted to the electricity running through the switch, or something; they would pile up on the contacts and eventually stop the flow of the current. I impressed the heck out of the barn owner one morning - when I got there, he told me we didn't have any water, and was thinking he was going to have to call a plummer. I turned off the power to the well, went out to it, popped the cover off the switch, and started scraping the ant carcasses off the contacts. When it was all cleaned off, I turned the power back on and - ta-dah! - we had water! (Who'd-a-thunk-it, the woman knows something useful!)
