NFC so sorry about Bubbles - was she old for a bunny?

She was around 3 yrs. old. I don't think that's real old, maybe more like middle-age. According to what I've read, pet rabbits that are spayed or neutered can live up to about 7-8 years. Of course she wasn't spayed, she was for breeding. But she only had 3 litters during her life, so it's not like she was worn out. It was sad. We do have 2 of her daughters, DH might want to keep one of them.

Wish they had a pill to banish 'poopy days.'

But, my dear Diva, THEY do have a poopy days pill, it's just not legal for normal people to even know about them, let alone have any pills in hand.

Quote: An intact doe typically lives 3 to 5 years, though I have had a few to live longer. Bucks usually have longer lives; I have had a couple that were 12 or more when they died. Unfortunately, a lot of does (I have heard estimates as high as 80%) will develop cancer somewhere in their reproductive systems pretty early. A lot of does start producing smaller litters during their second year; most are pretty much sterile by the time they are 4 years old. Just because a buck lives longer doesn't mean he is useful all his life; a lot are basically "shooting blanks" by the time they are 6.

I'm sorry about Bubbles. Even animals that are kept for production can be special.
