I have never tried bear, and I always thought cougar (that is another name for mountain lion right?) were protected? Maybe just here...I completely get the different meals, mean different taste to the meat. We winter our cattle on turnips. It works great and the cows love it, but we cannot butcher them then until spring. Gives the meat a very strong turnip like flavor.

I haven't ever tried it, but I would. I have heard old time stories of trappers swearing that cougar was some of the best eatin'.

Never had any of the cats....but if someone ever offers you bear...try it....my brother had a freezer quit a few years back. He brought over some ground best meat.....made great kielbasa out of it!!!

Kielbasa is good stuff! Never had it made with bear though.
