Good Morning TK,

Sorry 'bout the delay, but I ended up doing the 'take the kiddos to school' thing.
I hope that your morning is going as planned.

Now, there's something to celebrate!

Schlepping water out to the animals 2 - 3 times a day gets old in a hurry, especially when I hear rabbits dumping their water dishes almost as soon as I have them filled and have moved down the line to the next cage.

It was such a relief to be able to turn the water system in the rabbitry back on.

We got a little rain overnight, hopefully not enough to replace what got lost with all the freezing and thawing. I've spent the last few days peering at my horses as they gingerly pick their way through the pockmarked frozen mud, trying to decide if they are just being extra careful or if anybody is actually limping. Sunny has the worst time of it. She has ridiculously thin soles on her feet, so walking on what is texturally somewhere between rip rap and broken bricks is physically painful for her. 65o high today, when two days ago, it didn't get above freezing all day. Crazy, but I'll take it!

Good Morning Bunny,
frow.gif

We went 3 days below freezing and with over 30 critters pens without heated water pans.

I am rethinking just how critters we want to keep, or spend a pile of money on heated water system.

Those birds are good for standing on the edge, and there goes most of the liquid water.

it is hard to tell a limp from just somebody tiptoeing over the sharp edges.

Good morning!

Same here, thankful for the above-freezing temps. I wish this meant winter was over... but I'm doubtin it.

My heated waterers have done well, except the newest one we bought this year. It froze up on me twice! Thought I fixed it the first time, but nooooo. Now I think I really got it, but won't be disappointed in not finding out for a while.

Scott - we tried a new system this year (in just 2 pens) with 4" pvc, with heat cable (cable, not heat tape) run inside the pipe, and with the chicken nipples. I found that it works well down to about freezing temps and a little below, but not so well below 20 degrees. The nipples freeze solid. But it thaws out easily when temps get back above 20. I would think it would work well further south of me.

Morning Cafe! Glad you all are thawing out. Less wind here but that means my temps will start to get colder. Oh well. I would like to see some sunshine; I think the critters would all be in for some sunbathing.
Have a wonderful day!

Morning all..

I did not read any further back than this page.. I see the topic of discussion is the weather.

We are having a "coastal Blizzard" right now. Well, it is heavier than that but I am over winter, it can move on now,

Good morning, thanks for the coffee Scott.

We should stay in the mid 50's during the day and above freezing at night until the weekend. Then a front moves in and the forecast calls for rain and snow.

Still have those annoying high clouds though, and not enough sunshine for me.

Good Morning WVC,

Good luck with that heater, I hope that you have to wait until next year to test it.
Nice idea with the Cable inside the pipe!
How is DH doing in this weather, Good I hope!

Good morning, folks.

It rained last night, and the snow is almost all gone.

How does someone in Minnesota have a 'coastal Blizzard'?
Do you have ocean front property that you want to sell?
