BYC Café

Morning all - Coffee on and has been all night.  We had the mother of all thunder storms last night.  My house got a direct lightening strike, took out the electric fence, gate and motor, energizer, sensors, satellite dish and the radio link to the armed response company.  Consequently have been up all night shotgun in hand.

I phoned the Insurance Co at 12.00 to ask if I was covered should I get a break in because all my defenses were down, they said no.  So why do we pay insurance?  The charges are astronomical but 'Acts of God' aren't covered. Uhh.. :barnie
I thought most Insurance Companies have add on's to every policy. Such as Wind damage, Water damage and hurricane "etc" and they don't have to go hand in hand. I know it seems weird to say an insurance company has basic or standard insurance and then they add on all the extra stuff they will cover and the price keeps going up. Think ever hear of any Insurance Company going out of business? When there are National Diasters they call and pressure for State of Emergency and Get state and Federal funding to cover people so they don't have to dig so deep In their pockets. Long ago we lived on the coast. There were add ons just bc we lived near the coast and there was a special add on bc we were less than a mile from water. Then when a tornado ripped through they would not call it wind damage and would not pay out unless people Had special add on policies for hurricanes not Wind damage. As bad as we feel
Ravaged by an Insurance company I would not want to be without. Sort of makes one feel !agh! about fire insurance, theft insurance, damage insurance and the list goes on. So if the Fire Department comes out and knocks in the door to Put out the fire and someone comes along and steals what was not destroyed by smoke, wind or water in the fire bc the wind blew the broken door and it hurt the burglar,.. look Out! Better have every type there is.

Mornin' chicken friends! Wow you were all a lively crowd yesterday.

Whoop sorry about the lightening. So scary. Hope today is better for you.

Off to NY for a weekends of dog hair and puppy kisses. Enjoy all

It's 43* and the wind is howling.

A cup of coffee sounds good, thanks Scott!

You are going to keep the wind away from Sir Sour, right?
He had to deal with that snow storm and all that kinda stuff.
At least You guys are on the warm side of that weather system.
Have a good weekend!

Sounds like it's better to just live in a tent than pay so much. That's a real crime.

Yep that is about right. However,I lost my rag with the insurance company, I do that sometimes!

and they said that they will send an assessor who has now been and gone and said basically everything is completely fried. I need new everything, and because being Friday nothing can be done 'till Monday.

I told them that it is quite a big property and I cannot be with security for the whole weekend so they capitulated and said if I can get it fixed they will pay. We shall see
