I'm not sure, I fell asleep after that haha it was like just before 4am

Definitely! We do have a lot of branches to clean up now though but that's better than the alternative, which would be a large branch or tree falling on the house or the chicken coops (either the new one or the one they're in now, potentially killing them). Or a branch falling across the driveway.

And I don't think so. Just the one time as far as I know but I fell asleep after that. We don't typically lose power or not for very long. We also have underground lines now so that helps. We did that a longgg time ago. We used to have a line and the poles across the driveway and we do still have one pole and box near the neighbors house that maybe runs to them too but our lines we buried them under the top of the driveway
We have a big bush that is like a tree in the front yard. Last winter a big branch fell off and barely missed the neighbors car. I hope we do not have winds like that this year!

We've had super strong winds here in the past couple weeks. Gusts up to 70 mph.

Those are very high winds. We get those once or twice a year. Sometimes up to cat 1 hurricane strength.

The wind is worse up in the Sierras though

I would assume they would. The mountains would act as wind tunnels, concentrating the area and stirring them up more.

Wow lucky it missed!

And yes yesterday was supposedly like 25-30 steady with gusts up to 70. And it definitely gust a lot lol

wow! that is some high wind!

I had to look it up, our average wind speeds are 15 mph in the high season, 11 mph the other half of the year. Gusts here are usually 30 to 50, but I saw one max of 90.

Interesting

We have a lot of big pines so we're lucky
Last year the UC Davis campus lost some very tall Redwood trees. One of them hit the side of Shields Library. That is a couple of buildings away from me. I am very careful when it is windy like that to stay away from trees that look iffy!

It is common for us to have 40mph sustained and then high gusts. The storms here are called Pacific storms and they come from your area- Alaska!

not sure how I would feel about that. .. yeah, they can be a good wind block... but then they crush your house. :hide

No trees or ground covering near our house..the house is actually surrounded by a 2 foot strip of rock.

Everything was cleared really far back for fire safety. Even if a tree wanted to fall, no way could one reach our house.
