I remember trying to teach my oldest daughter to drive a stick shift. Lol. Once she got going she could go through the rest of the gears just fine. She never could get the smooth take off. After a few months she finally just traded for an automatic shift.

I taught my Daughter to drive a stick shift. My Oldest will be 30 in March and was able to get a job when she was 25 years old as a car salesman. Being able to drive a manual transmission car helped her get the job

I took my drivers test at 16 driving a Volkswagen with manual transmission. I passed the first time too!

I failed the first time = 'poor speed control'. I drove too slowly.

Passed the next time and lost my license within the month for excessive speed.

Some folks just don't get the hang of it. SIL couldn't learn it either.

started driving the tractor at 10, first car VW bug second 68 Pontiac gto... then moved to Juneau with another bug no heater well that went bad Subaru and a vw rabbit diesel first license back in college did it in my gmc half ton truck 3 on the tree Ma realized when she taught us to parallel park she only gave us 12 feet

I tried to learn to drive stick, no luck. Bin driving 30 plus years, hooked on automatic

think that because Ma had no fear of anything to drive I learned it also my big fords all where standard shift when I taught my6 Daughter it was a the diesel rabbit that was standard

My story is very similar!

Mom never had a driver's license, but drove the tractor. She was 65 when Dad died. Within 2 weeks she took and passed her driving test and got her license.
