Bananas in the store are all one plant that has been propagated. This plant is killed by a fungus. The fungus is already in Africa and some are dying off in South america.

Research is under way for both cocoa and bananas though. This is the second time for bananas too. In the 1950s the cultivar in stores was wiped out by a similar fungus. Now we have Cavendish bananas. The one that was wiped out was supposed to taste better

Sadly it's the same for coffee. The prices have already jumped a bit, even the robusta . Before I left Starbucks in 2012 we were already being told that growing was becoming more difficult.

Did you know that the only place in the world where coffee is indigenous is Ethiopia?

I picked up my roo and a hen at a show in November. It was the end of the show so everyone was packing up already. This time I'm going the first day so that I can see everything. Only problem is, we've got freezing rain right now

You've been to the biggest poultry show in the country when you went to the Royal. Probably too much other stuff to distract you though.

Poultry is only on the last day, and we went during the week.
Otherwise I would have totally check it out!

Penny does that mean they are pretending so they can keep increasing the prices on chocolate? I might be okay, I think there are some flavors of ice cream I eat(when I must) that don't have chocolate in them.

I could buy up Hershey syrup (if it has a long shelf life) and use it to "choc lo cate,"
all the vanilla things. BTW if you dump some of the syrup in a jar of peanut butter it
makes a faux version of peanut butter cups - good to the last drop.

Would not surprise me in the least I love my chocolate ice cream, hershey bar or syrup the old saying prying them from cold dead fingers would fit
