made great bread bowls from loaded potato soup last night

It is great the way we influence each other on BYC!
I make the sourdough coffee cake you posted and you bake bread bowls and soup from recipes I posted...Love it!

There are much more enthusiastic bakers here, so I'm sure y'all can correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that the practice of cutting an 'X' (cross) on the top of loaves was to "let/keep the devil out," so the bread would rise - and that goes for a lot more types of breads than just the little rolls.

I always heard the 'x' was to represent the cross/crucifixion.

I got two pairs of glasses with bifocals after my cataract surgery - years ago. I still can't stand to wear them.

Mine are progressive bifocals. More expensive but easier to get used to.

see light to me is extremely painful I wear dark all the time to some extent

Hello Penny? You said you like Rod Stewart. Well when I got to my daughter's house in Longview Friday night, they rushed out to catch a private jet of a friend's and made a 25 min trip to Durant Oklahoma, parked the plane and had 2nd row seats. When they left they realized they had parked the plane right next to Rod's but he was already on board and ready to take off. Here's a pic my daughter took. She had several videos but I don't know how to transfer those.
