BYC Café

Because of all the near death incidents I had in my early years (2 - 13) You already know about my catfish incident. Starting at 2 yrs. I chewed on a rag that was soaked in malathion. Resulting in having my stomach pumped out at a Clovis, NM hospital. I'm highly allergic to wasps, bees, poison ivy. Got blood poisoning from poison ivy, nearly killed me. Stung by bees and wasps so many times, I would swell up so much my breathing was affected by it, barely made it to the ER in time on many occasions. Even today, I have about 15 minutes to make it to a hospital before my system starts shutting down. And I don't have an epipen, so just have to be real careful. I do carry benadryl on me at all times, it gives me a chance to make it to the hospital.
Can't you ask the doctor to prescribe an epipen?

AW gee Sean, all of that was missing from your interview. :hitMaybe we could all pitch in and at least get you a bee keeper's outfit and head gear to offer some protection. :hugs:love

Some parents are like that Sean. My mother wouldn't let me cross streets without someone holding my hand - even kids younger than me. But she let me run around the neighborhood by myself and you know what happened when I was young.

Would you use an epipen if you had one? Do any of your siblings have similar allergies?
I didn't include that in my interview because you would still be reading it! :gigbut I did say something to the effect that I made it through life without too many more life threatening events, let's just say lighting strikes twice....yes, I've been struck by lighting, twice. Once, while hanging from a construction basket by crane, 450 ft. above ground, when a thunderstorm blew in, and before it could be lowered it got struck. Luckly, I had rubber boots on or I would have been fried. Another time, I was on a metal platform on a bark boiler at a paper mill. Doing testing during a thunderstorm, the platform was struck, the strike made my heart fibilate, irregular heart beat for months after, that strike entered via a communication head set I was wearing. Knocked me unconscious for several hours.
So is it any wonder why I'm still around? :barnie None of my other siblings have any allergic reactions like I have from the various bees, wasps, scorpions, poison ivy, etc....I was special, I guess? :lau
Nancy, you always have a way of getting the hidden story out of me! :old:pop

Morning Cafe

Thanks for the coffee, Debby and I'll take a donut GAC, if I can find one, I think dd has been there already! :lau

Good luck today Sour!

Morning Margie, Cap, Nancy

Cap, an epipen would cost me over $900

Everyone make it a great day!
Check into the generic ones. But your life is more important than money, you need one!

BTW Sean have doctors/ER treated your serious allergies with steroids?

I remember an acquaintance had to have hip replacement because the steroid use destroyed the bone. She had asthma - of course she didn't give up chain smoking. She'd have the oxygen canister right there and she was smoking to beat the band!
