Freezing rain here. The salt truck has gone by twice so far. Nice coating of ice on the coop. But the wood stove sure is nice!

The plan is to finish mudding (joint compound) the mud room addition this weekend. It's a struggle to get motivated to do one of my least favorite tasks. At least I don't need to go out in the ice!

I'm familiar with mudding...we're going to be doing quite a bit of that ourselves, hopefully before long.

It's not especially fun, but at least you'll be inside and not ice skating.

Ok not really. I took a nap yesterday afternoon so I still have a few chores around the house to do today. Super exciting stuff!

rain can be better than mountainous snow levels. I've seen snow hide in the shade even on days of 70F or better

We had a huge snowfall too.

Ok not really. I took a nap yesterday afternoon so I still have a few chores around the house to do today. Super exciting stuff!

I've been promising myself to learn how to really decorate sugar cookies, nicely, not with my usual slap/dash way. So the dough is made and chilling now. I'll be ready to bake them soon.

If I can figure this out, I could really use them for our restaurant lunches this coming summer.

Might not be everyone's cup of tea for the day, but I'm kind of psyched about giving it a shot

I used to let the kids paint sugar cookies. Mix egg yolk with food color and paint away. Lots of fun!

I always used to involve my boys in the cooking and baking stuff too. Now that they're grown up, one knows how to make a bean burrito and the other how to grill a steak.

I was thinking about baking some bread tomorrow morning since it's supposed to rain. I also feel like something cooked all day on the stove for dinner so I'm going through the freezers to see what I can find.
