Hi Becca, what's going on down in Alabama today?
Hey girlie! Got an earlier appointment this morning so getting in the shower as soon as I drink my coffee. It's in the mid 40's so that means all buildings will be cranking up the heat, not looking forward to that. Hubs is still racked out in the bed. 50+ years of getting up at the crack of dawn was enough for him, so he really enjoys his sleep now.
Hope all is well in your neck o the woods today.

G'morning cafe :)

Thanks for the coffee Shad, I like your new brand!

I have thought about getting a grow light for starting my vegetable s but I can’t believe I never thought of the electric bill, that is an excellent point.

I've been looking into lighting recently. The newer LEDs could be the answer to that problem.

I love to re purpose things but am no inventor or artist

I'm not either, but there are tons of ideas online to help give you ideas and instructions. I'm talking simple stuff like the self watering pots and reusing milk jugs for watering plants.
I'm reusing a few as feeders for the quail because I don't care for the galvanized metal thing I bought for them.

Have a great day everyone :frow

I use 4' 2 bulb florescent fixtures, but keep my fixtures about 4 - 6" above the plants. Candle power diminishes exponentially the further away it is from the plants so less bulbs are needed this way. Plants need seasonal light anyway, less on short daylight seasons, as much as they need a dark cycle every night. So you can take that into consideration when trying to save your energy dollars.
