That's a hard question to answer.
Some people split music into genres and prefer one to another. I'm never quite sure which music belongs in which genre.

I take the easy way out. I have two genres, music I like and music I don't.

I've been a music fan most of my life. I have a problem though; I'm also a Hi Fi enthusiast and builder. I've got a bit snobby over the years and some music is so badly produced and recorded, for me it spoils the listening experience.
I like classical music but I can't listen to it on a stereo system; there is just something missing.
I have a bit of a collection; 2460 albums at last count. I also have about 80 singles.
I've found that my taste changed with age, maybe.

and of course the mood I'm in.
At the moment I find I'm listening to a lot of early Funk music and some of the less well known progressive rock I have.
Last night I played:
Funkadelic.
Tower of Power.
Alan Parsons.
Blodwyn Pig.
The Cardigans.
Glodfrapp.
