I think you're right, bossy hussysThat’s what I raise is RIR! Must be a breed thing XD.
Great hiding placeGrapes and mature cheddar cheese here. Mini Minx would tear your hand off for a bit of smoked cheddar.
There's a grape vine that grows just outside the main house double kitchen doors. The grapes are wine rather than eating grapes and the chickens love them. Only one has managed to fly up to the wooden structure that supports the vine. I spent ages looking for her at dusk once and thought a predator had got her. It was a grape falling off the vine that made me look up.
You are correct. The red legs mean trouble. So, I noticed that Ocho the rooster had some red on his legs yesterday. Thought I would soak him in some Epsom salts and warm water to clean him up so I can see what was going on with the feet and legs turning red. I don't know if any of y'all have ever seen a rooster fall asleep in a spa bath, but mine did. He was too relaxed I had to hold him up cuz his wings were dropping down into the water. And his Beak was just about resting in his spa bath!
It was pretty funny because first he thought it was bad torture. But the next thing you know he's nodding, his eyes are closed and he just about passed out in the bath. Turns out I think he just really is getting hormonal! I read up on it and it seems like that's what's happening, I see no sign of scaly leg Mite or any other injuries that might cause the redness.
Feel free to weigh in on this if you think I should be looking for a problem, otherwise I'm assuming that he just has hormones and he's turning red because of that.
He is stii in quarantine, but just on the other side of the wooden stockade fence in the back yard. When he crows and chortles they crowd the fence to look through the cracks. Next week we will put his cage in the back yard to let them meet. You are correct. The red legs mean trouble.
What do your hens make of him, although they'll know he's a bit young for mating with?
I've had some real pain in the butt roosters. We get ourselves sorted in the end though. My roosters never bother me but can’t stand my dad. They follow my mom around and she never does anything with them. They just like her. Gotta take care of the folks though!
I haz curry paste
Someone bought me down some jars of curry paste fron an Indian shop in Barcelona.
Off down the market in the morning to get stuff to CURRY!![]()
In general the food here is good. I don't buy meat from the shops but I do eat the occasional chicken from here and wild boar that the local hunters kill.I haven’t had curry since I went to Evansville last summer!
