Just got back from an Applebee's sponsored fund raiser for grandson's highschool baseball team. $10 breakfast of scrambled eggs, pancakes and drink with all $ going to the team. Applebee's provided the facility, food and cook - boys were the waiters. It was a fun time and good public relations for Applebees.

Grandson (16) has been dating the same girl for 3 years. Met her parents and siblings today, and I now understand why she is such a sweetheart = genetics does count. They are all class people. What are the chances of something like this succeeding long term ?

Your fund raising breakfast sounds like fun Sour...nice of Applebee's to assist.

I know a few people that have been together that long. Sometimes it "takes" and sometimes it doesn't. Hey what about Little Lake Phil...hasn't he been with his wife about that long too?

I Am a special education teacher. My classroom consists of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders this year. Keeps me very busy!

Bless you for being a special ed teacher! I bet the kids keep you running :D

Here's a pic of the Blue Front 'Zoey' having a bath in her water bowl! She is getting more relaxed and friendly every day!

Aww, Zoey is a pretty bird! I think she's in the right home now.

Good afternoon cafe :)

Hubs spent the morning working on the mini coop, I've been working on pavers and the compost pile. The weather is gorgeous and there's some beautiful dirt out there for the garden in the fall. The not so great stuff I've been using to level pavers and fill in the spaces between them. We're headed out for animal feed in a few minutes, might pick up some lunch too. I made a fresh pot...actually I nuked my cold coffee but you get the drift...
Have a great afternoon :frow

Glad you had a nice afternoon to be out playing in the dirt IM!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the continent...

Yesterday: sunny, high in the mid-60s, warm breeze, cute girls sunbathing in the yard, spring peepers in full chorus all day and well into the evening.

Today: was supposed to hit mid-40s with light showers. Instead, it never got over 38, cold blowing wind through coop in progress and it now started snowing. :th

Mid afternoon I looked out the coop window to see one of the leghorns preening as high up under her beak as she could reach. She looked like someone had slit her throat! She was rather oblivious to this. I used mealworms to snatch her up and into the chicken tub she went. It was nothing more than a tiny little peck wound on the bottom of her wattle. She still received a full blown spa treatment and now looks like a little show chicken. Which I'm sure will last for all of 30 minutes.

I know your heart must have skipped a beat when you saw that blood! Glad it's just a peck and not a predator!

Your Leghorns look like chicken pancakes all sprawled out in the sun! Sooo cute!

Thanks @N F C! Zoey is molting and itchy right now. Funny what just 1 week of adequate protein will do for a parrot!

I keep them inside an electronetted pen so my first thought was, 'how in the hell did you do that'? I'd been out with them for hours and heard nothing. She didn't even complain when she got tuned up! Little toughy.

That they do!
I love my little leghorns.
Peanut is the one who performed the slit throat act today. Lucy is the diva on the right side of the sunbathing picture. Lucy has at least 8 to 10 peck wounds to her comb at any given time. She is absolutely NOT going to be near the bottom of the pecking order!! She is always pushing the buck and it shows.
