BYC Café

I'm not quite sure Debby. I did write the hatch day down on a piece of paper and left it by the keyboard. You know what it's like with those bits of paper, I think the paper eating gremlin got it.
They hatch when they hatch if they hatch. I can't really miss it given where the nest is.;)

Good point, no missing the hatch when they're right there with you...good vantage point!

Had some rain today. Wiped a few degrees off the temperature.
I'm going to be a bit short tempered this coming week. The son of the people who live in the main house has finished his Masters degree and has decided to come back here for a bit.
It's very hard to explain but just listening to the fake public school accent sets my teeth on edge. He's 27 years old and has never had a full time job and his arrogance is only matched by his ignorance. I may have to hit him with a large blunt object a few times just to make myself feel better. Oh don't worry, he won't feel a thing, he's far too thick to feel pain.

Last hen that hatched here I lay awake overnight listening to the eggs cracking. I was good, I only peeked a couple of times.:p

Maybe you can avoid him? That would be better than being locked up for bludgeoning someone.

That would have been fun! And who could only peek? I'd be sitting on the edge of a chair with a bowl of popcorn watching the show :gig

Sounds like another is on it's way.
This is the current mum arrangement. I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen.
Just to recap, that's grandmother Ruffles (grey mainly Maran) and her grand daughter Tackle standing on the edge. I'm going to leave them both where they are overnight.
The maternity unit just outside my house is ready.

Looking forward to seeing some of the new little ones Shad! :pop

It's crazy really. There is nothing private, or dark, or secluded about the nest box, yet I have queues to use it. Tribe 2 were round earlier checking it and the maternity unit out.
Hinge from Tribe 2 is going to go broody in about 5 days time. She was very interested in the nest box and had a bit of a sit to try it out. I know she's planning on going broody because she's been laying in a couple of places and is now looking for a hatch nest.
