BYC Café

Ha ha, funny boys! Yes, I was weeding around the baby carrots but he got to turn over the rest of the entire garden to get ready for the fall planting...(in a week or so.):)
Fall planting? It's only summer!

The chick that was peeping under Tackle didn't make it. Probably just as well. It would very likely have had problems later.
Once the eggs are badly disturbed in the last three days the chances of healthy chicks if they manage to hatch at all are slim.
I can't help but feel sorry for Tackle. She perked up a bit when the chick was peeping but it looks like she may have pecked at the shell. She's sitting on the remaining eggs atm but I'm going to put a stop to the sitting tomorrow if nothing hatches overnight.
Ruffles is okay with her chick and went into the maternity coop like it was home this evening. It's such a shame about her weak leg. She'll be out and about with the chick tomorrow and I'll be extremely worried until she lets the chick fend for itself. I'm hoping she will return to the tribe coop more quickly than she did the last time she sat.

Hey, Meg, I meant to comment on your pictures. I LOVE your property and your flock! I'm jealous of your fruit trees. I had one lousy pear tree that was on this property when we bought it. We didn't eat the pears but would carve them up for the chickens and give them slices. The tree died about 3 weeks ago. Poof. Just like that. Now I have another tree I have to cut down.

Sour, you go to field trials rather regularly in Wilkes-Barre. That is where I take DH for his neurology appointments and for the clinical trials. It's in Plains but that's right next door to Wilkes-Barre. We are going down this Friday for evaluation for that trial I so wanted him on, the COR388. I'm pretty sure he'll get on it and I hope it helps him.

Well thanks, Tonya! I really appreciate that. We haven't had much for pears yet, but they are still trying. I thought you ripened them on the tree but the fella that owns the nursery a couple miles from me just informed me that was incorrect. I've got maybe 50'ish fruits and if they make it till fall I'll figure out how to do it :p
That's too bad about your tree. Wonder what happened? My dad had the same thing happen to one of his pears this year. Strange.

Glad to hear Fuji is doing okay. Hoping the vet will let you put the monitor on!:fl How's the fabulous hair throwing Fabio?

Wishing you and your husband the best in getting into the trial. :hugs
