It's 1.5 minutes out of your life, but I think this is one of the best episodes of chicken TV I've recorded!
We've got crowing bushes that sound ever so cute, a counter crowing rooster who is starting to get pissed, unnecessary predator alerts, a bedraggled looking broody hen with 3 adorable chicks in tow and a little triple leg kick herding of Cali finale!!

That's really nice having that huge bush next to their run. Is that a flowering one you've shared photos of before?

Yes. I love that bush. The gorgeous display it puts on only lasts about 5 days at peak. It is a great habitat.
The chickens have made quite the network of tunnels through it. They spend lots of time in there on the really hot days. The roof of the run now add more shade to it at peak heat.

He's hilarious! So far, he is MUCH nicer than big boy ever was. I'm hoping he stays that way.
Whoah, steady. You know what people who talk about genetics say. He must be aggressive really, it's just you haven't noticed.:p

It's an ideal bush for them. It's dense a bit above ground, established enough to provide layered shade and even if a hawk saw them in there I doubt it would make a strike.

@Shadrach , I had something similar happen to me when I was riding, saddle-less, my little Appaloosa mare up the road. In my case, it was a bicyclist that passed by far too close. He came up so fast and quiet that my horse jumped right out from under me and I landed on my feet with one rein in my hand! The guy felt terrible about it and gave me a leg up to get back on. I didn't have to resort to standing on his helmet!

It truly is. It and a rather scraggly Rose of Sharon were all I kept of the foliage on that portion of the property. I never had a grand plan for the area and the space lent itself so well for the chickens it's rather like destiny that I kept that bush!
