BYC Café

Good morning Cafe.
Coffee is made.
Could be in for more rain here.
The three witches are cracking eggs. Stuck my head in this morning to make sure everyone got off the nests for a bit and heard cheeping.
Hinge and Bracket got off the nest and went out leaving a slightly damp chick behind.
They were only gone a few minutes and the chick was still alive when Hinge got back.
The nests still look good. Eggs tightly packed and reasonably clean.
Nolia didn't get off her nest. A quick check by sliding my hand underneath her found 6 pairs of legs, tow pairs were very very small.:love
What I want is at least 3 more hens. This would give Punch and Mag 6 hens in total.
There are 16 eggs, half of which are likely to be males. Half again are likely to get predated at some point. That means if I'm lucky I may just get three hens.
Hinge Bracket and Nolia may have other plans.:rant
Yay, that's fantastic!

I've been trying to sleep off the vertigo - doesn't work. I can be sitting quietly in a chair- no computer etc., and the room spins around me. If I don't look up or down, or side to side - it usually goes away.:rant At least I have gotten rid of the headaches that usually accompany it.
Sorry about the vertigo, DD. I've heard that's an awful thing. I can only relate on the headaches, as I've dealt with them my whole life. Do you take anything for vertigo? Or is there anything that can help it?

Good morning, Cafe.
Thanks for the coffee, Shad. Sounds like things are getting exciting for three witches! I do hope pictures are coming soon to a Cafe near me...

We are taking a trip up to Penn Yan today for feed supplies. Not as sunny as I hoped but not raining either. It's always a beautiful drive and I am looking forward to it. The views of the countryside, vineyards and Seneca Lake are all so inviting and relaxing.

I hope everyone enjoys their Friday.
Are the leaves changing, DL? Sounds like a lovely drive.

Pretty good! I really ran my tush off at work this week running the line, moving product and continuing my normal Engineering support tasks (which have been much less since the sale of the company). In general, I had a lot of fun. I love the extra physical activity. Really the only downside was insufficient caffeine infusions.

How about you, Sean? How are you feeling these days?
Likely still sad though!

Will you be moving to a new job?

Not much but it's started. We stopped for coffee and a bag of pistachios in Penn Yan and will stop for a quick stroll through lower Watkins Glen State Park on the way back.

Thanks Sour needed it this morning headed to drop last two extra cockerels that had escaped me thus far... Diva never experienced vertigo I hope they could find something to help that empathy2.gif

I have finally managed to get the second maternity unit operational. It needs some finishing touches but it's secure for nighttime.
The three witches had hatched 4 chicks when I checked this evening. It was too dark to take pictures.
Knock with her two chicks is a bit of a handful atm. She attacks Myth who is a baby killer as soon as Myth gets anywhere near. It was so bad last night that Notch intervened and then much to my surprise Knock's mother Donk had a right go at her daughter which Notch didn't interfere with.
I'm having trouble making sure the chicks get enough to eat. Knock lets them have a few mouthfuls of commercial feed in the morning and then marches them off bug and plant hunting. I've been locating them 3 or 4 times a day and providing a bowl of feed. Knock generally goes for me when I put the feed down. The chicks do manage to eat some before Knock marches them off again. I know Knock is hungry because I've taken to putting a bowl of feed in the coop in the evenings and when she goes in with the chicks to sleep she eats like she hasn't been fed for days. I can see no signs of ill health in the chicks.
Ruffles who is out and about with her chick is completely the opposite. She's in and out with her chick throughout the day to eat. Ruffles isn't overly fond of digging and strenuous exercise.:p

We stopped at Shequaga Falls in Montour Falls on the way home. They are quite lovely.
Then drove by this church getting a paint job of the window frames.

I couldn't quite get the point of the steeple in the frame.
Here is a close up of a window. The stained glass is just beautiful.
