Morning Cafe

Shad, dry off and have a cup of your good coffee! I'm enjoying it because it's chilly here this morning.

IM, I've read others say the taste of the home raised birds is different from the store bought. It's interesting to read your experience with dealing with the processing so keep sharing!

No! Jeez, thanks for taking the time to write about your experience. This is the main reason I never let me hens sit, because I knew I'd have to deal with it somehow. So, two beautiful home grown cockerels and a hatchery a-hole that needs to go. I've got a bruise the size of a silver dollar on my thigh where he got me Sunday. Cheap shot Charlie, indeed.:hmm

The mean ones aren't quite as difficult ;)I had a roo like that, hated everyone!

This was my goal, but in my opinion it's a good idea to be set up for dealing with those a-holes and any sick birds too.

Good luck! You don't need special tools. I found a video online on how to make a cone from a 5 gallon bucket that works perfectly and Igor uses a very sharp filet knife we have for cleaning fish to cut off the heads. Then we walk away until the death throws are over.

Enjoy your day off from the salt mine!

Oh I will thanks! Taking the pups to the park, getting some stuff done in the backyard, and Igor cooks tonight

This is your surf & turf night, right? Going to have to see a picture of how it turns out (so I can live vicariously, you know)

Yes, my birthday dinner. I'm turning 50 tomorrow but since we work Monday today is a better day to do stuff.
