This weekend in 2012 we had a 10" heavy wet snow storm while the leaves were still on the trees. I saw the forecasts and told the Princess, "Make motel reservations. We are going to lose power." Indeed we lost power for 10 days a tree even came down on the house. The following spring we purchased a propane fueled generator capable of running the entire house. (It's a small ranch.)
Good call on that one, Sour! That's too bad about the tree hitting the house. Having a backup generator would be awesome. My pa got one a couple years ago but still hasn't hooked it up. He was regretting that as this storm was rolling in!

Me too, Shad. I'm sure we'll have some nice weather again. We usually do!
Autumn is my favorite season here. We get a couple of spectacular weeks in spring when the temperatures are cooler than the summer temperatures which arrive here very quickly. Autumn tends to last longer and while winter here can be cold (this is of course relative:p) the days tend to be sunny and bright. Mid day here in a good winter you can go top less and still get sunburnt.

Meg, that is terrible. You were freezing and shaking sopping snow off your trees today.

I've been sweating buckets. I've gone through two shirts. They are sopping wet. I'm off for a load of leaf compost as I just dug a hole in what appears to be pure driveway base. I have no idea how the grass was growing over that. But my Beauty Berry will surely fail to establish roots in it so I need to amend the "soil".
I surely was! And I'm short, so the full load of snow ends up right on my noggin haha. Ah, well. The price we pay to live in a beautiful place, I suppose.

Glad to hear you're getting lots accomplished! You sure are a hard working gal. :highfive:

Good reason for a Generator!

Things like this make sticking to a Paleo diet difficult.

They had these incredible home made desserts at the club today, and I overindulged. A club member who was there remarked that he had never seen me eat dessert. I replied, "These are homemade and too good for me to resist, and I have a very low EQ." He laughed.
