BYC Café

On the power cutoff map, we are in the middle of the big circle no power. There are places close to woodland and Davis on the map though.

Another member shared the map of expected outages on another thread. It's a real eye-opener to see all the areas potentially affected.

edited to add map link:

Good morning, Café.
Coffee is low so I brewed some more.

I'm starting to really feel the consequences of this place shutting down. Yesterday my best friend and mentor, John, said he needed to talk to me. So as I loaded baskets to plate he told me that he finally made the decision (after a month of thinking on it) that he is going to take the position offered him with TTM, the company that bought us (i3 Electronics) out.
It's a great offer and I'm happy for him.
But I immediately felt the stab to the heart and almost cried in front of him. Instead I was snippy.
Today, I told him why I was a snot yesterday but he already knew why. We both teetered on the edge of making blubbering fools of ourselves at work.
He's gone to his orientation until 2 so I am blubbering by myself.

Dobie :hugs

It's the human side of closings that hit the hardest. Jobs come & go, but friends are hard to come by.

que lastima 2.jpg that is very sad!

Will your university be closed for the outage Ron?
So far the main campus and the Sacramento Med school are open. We are not in the phased shut off plan for now.

We will get a warnme notice if the plans change.

I suspect that some of our unit will stay home though-- a lot of us live in areas where the power will be turned off

I am so sorry this has hit you this way

For me, it's a pain in the butt!

There are 2 stores to shop at, both require a 12 mile round trip. Neither store has all I need to get, so usually have to go to both of them. Even then, I can always bet something on my list won't be available (yesterday it was bacon & paper towels). Then there's the whole load it into my car and unload it at home aspect. The unloading is the hard part, my cats are glad to see me and insist in standing smack in the doorway where I'm sure to trip over them.

There's also the cost but that's sort of my fault. Since I hate going, I stock up on stuff. DH can't figure out why groceries are so expensive, but he never wonders why we always have food available
No bacon?? :thDarn cats! My dogs are the same way :p Got about 8". Has stopped for now but supposed to start again...
