It gets worse. Let's just talk marriage. The me of 55+ years ago looks at the me of today, and says, "Boy, what the 'H' happened to you." :hmm The reality is that I can still do all the things that I ever could. It just takes longer and hurts more. It's all about setting priorities, and I think that you have your priorities in proper order. Important things first.

I bet they do and I'm very much wanting to try.
I know we can eventually produce enough of our own chickens to feed us for a year (Mr. Shad ;)). I would keep whatever pullets I wanted and sell off the rest. I'm just not ready. I want to be. But I know I'm not.
I have so much to do that I end up doing nothing. When I look back at what I accomplished before my father died, it amazes me to see how far I've fallen. DH's Alzheimer's doesn't help but that isn't his fault. So adding on to my stress by taking a life for the first time seems like a bad idea. I'd probably traumatize myself! I'd feel too bad for the chicken.

You have a lot going on. You can’t compare situations when the only common denominator is you...There’s to many other factors.

You are an honest person who knows & admits her current limitations. I admire & respect you enormously for these things. :hugs

Thanks, Roomy!
Okay you guys... that's it!! Pity party is OVER (for today )! The duff is being peeled off the couch right now and I shall conquer the rest of my day!

Didn't really read any of that as a pity party, but this made me laugh anyways. My coffee was cold so I brewed another pot. I conquered the sinks today and intend to conquer nothing more except perhaps a salmon dinner.

Here's my favorite chick that hatched. It's a Brahma mix (local farm fertile eggs).
