BYC Café

Good morning Cafe, the coffee is ready!

Handsome boy Dobie! What's his name?
Kyro. I'm not sure I'll keep it. I rarely keep the name a dog had in it's previous life.

I think dogs need someone they respect. If they respect you and love you, you've got it made.
You are absolutely correct here Meg. Dogs know if you're weak and will run your life if you let them. My folks have a Chihuahua and he is a terrible dog. He has bitten both of them and everyone has to be careful around him. They make excuses for him and don't make any corrections. Super frustrating. Yet my daughters dog and our dogs get along fine with each other, other dogs and humans too, but they're all "aggressive" pitbull mixes.

Chihuahuas are crazy dogs. If you don't correct them they'll bite everyone! Jolene has Chihuahua in her and she was corrected at a very young age not to bite. People get bit more by Chihuahuas than they do pit bulls.

They sure do! And cockers are also at the top of the list with Chihuahuas. The issue with bullies is that, being big dogs, they do massive damage and the media blows things out of proportion. Talk about rabid animals!

I've never been bit by my pit mix. She's capable of doing damage, but I know she would never hurt family. If anything she would protect us.

Today is the FIRST day I've been able to walk into the chicken run and not have a 10 lb rooster mad about it. He didn't attack every day, but he let his presence be known. He would attack our boots a lot and he followed me everywhere. He never paid attention to the girls, he was always focused on me.

HeiHei came to see me instantly to see what goods I brought. I've never met a rooster so sweet. I'm not sure if he's going to be the head of the flock or if Squatch will be. HeiHei hangs out with the chicks, they're all 6 weeks old. They seem to really like him.

Squatch hasn't bothered HeiHei at all. So I'm thinking I lucked out with this free roo. He's a bit over a year old so maybe he will teach Squatch a free things or vice versa.

I was worried we took the wrong cockerel, but as soon as I put out scraps, he started grabbing pieces and clucking to his girls to come get some. The dynamic has completely changed in the flock already. It's more calm and like it was before we added roos/cockerels to the mix.
