They have a Napoleon complex. Little dogs tend to have a bark bigger than their bite because of their size. They have to compensate somehow.

Out of all my dogs, I think my beagle would do the most damage to someone if they tried to attack me. I'm her entire life.
My current dog is a Papillon. Never met a person she didn't like. It's all in how you raise them. A lot of people don't correct small dogs, so they do whatever they want. The Chihuahua my brother raised after I left for University was a hellion, except toward me. He would pee on people and bite others. Even if you were just leaving the house, he would bark. Brother thought it was funny. :smack

A Chihuahua was my first dog also Cap. She was a sweet thing that liked everyone.

I think all the idiot owners give them a bad rep! Although they can definitely be feistier than some dogs haha but it can all be managed and taught what’s acceptable like any dog (or kid) should be. They do seem like smart, sweet little dogs when raised right.

Poodles are another one frequently mismanaged.

Although I’m really loving Papillon, Havanese, Shih Tzus, and Bichons :love

And I’ve always thought the terriers seemed cool like Westies, Border, Cairn, etc. even the rat terriers. and Boston although I’m not sure why they’re labeled terriers since they seem closer to bulldogs haha

I think my pug is part Chihuahua instead of part beagle... She can be nippy and it's not because I trained her wrong. She always wants to protect me, I'm the alpha and all my dogs will "protect" me even if it's from a squirrel.

If I bring Molly with me on a ride, at red lights if anyone stares at me she'll start barking at them :gigive traveled all over with this dog. She's never bit anyone, she's just protective of her things like my car.

:lau that’s hilarious! Pugs can be pretty feisty haha

Ok Noah, when you get the ark built, you can get 2 of each breed!;)

My Westie was the best dog I've ever owned. Very smart and friendly. And she played like a pup until she was over 10 years old.

I think sometimes it has to do with the breeding as well. Some breeders interbreed and it causes a lot of issues. I had a Staffordshire terrier that we had to put down, she had a brain injury from inbreeding. If you looked at her the wrong way she would snap. She actually attacked 2 of my dogs and me. Scariest moment in my life.

I don't always put blame on training or the owners because I've been in situations where it was something health wise going on that caused the issue.

All ofmy dogs love people for the most part, but they know when someone is bad. If my dogs don't like you, then I probably shouldn't either

She is hilarious. She is 10 years old and my husband loves her, she hated him until the day he gave her a treat. She would sneeze in his drinks and on his food :gig

We went to TSC with her yesterday when we dropped off Sid and she walked in the store like she owns it.

Oh wow that’s ridiculous!! Not sure why anyone would want to live with that haha

I think you are absolutely right. People don’t correct them. I’ve seen so many people think it’s cute!! “Oh he’s protecting me” or laugh about it.

Gator occasionally had some reactivity issues with other dogs (not always, depended on the dog) as well as being very protective of the house, car, etc. and he used to jump when young but that was corrected pretty quickly but just typical puppy/adolescent crazies & excitement for a bit but I always used to say.... if a little dog did this exact behavior, it would be cute or funny or at least wouldn’t earn a correction, just a “stop it!” In vain or picking them up (horrible idea, encouraging it) and the people at the receiving end would likely just go something like “got a feisty one there, huh?” And laugh it off but with bigger dogs and/or certain breeds, they’re vicious, dangerous, mean, bad dogs  same behavior. Should be corrected and/or trained out just the same. Same with jumping. A little dog does it, it’s adorable. Big huge dog, not so much. Especially with muddy paws. :lau I’m not sure why people don’t expect the same manners from their little dogs as they do their big dogs. Maybe because they can’t do as much damage? Or because they genuinely don’t see a problem? Who knows. But I would NOT want to live with a dog like that. Most of them are so annoying too with all the demand behaviors and begging for attention and it gets rewarded because “OMG so adorable” or aww she loves me. Or the dogs that constantly bark 24/7 because “that’s just what she does”

Jolene is poodle, Yorkie, Chihuahua, and Jack Russel. She has the best personality I think. She's not mouthy or Yippy. She listens and has lots of energy, she keeps the cat calm by running him tired.
