I was going to stagger it. Do 5 week 12 or 13. Do 5 week 14 or 15. Do 5 week 16. Then I'll have everyone taste test them to see what age they like best.

I was thinking about trying this, but I only have 3 boys to process this time. The next batch will be 6 so I decided to try it then, 2 at a time. Plus those are all the same mix so would be a fairer comparison.

I'm hoping we can get butchering down. I'm just going to skin them instead of buying an expensive plucker or hand plucking. A few of them I'll keep the skins on. I'm also keeping the bone in the breasts because that'll keep them juicy.

We've only quartered one, but I left the skin on and roasted the rest of them whole. Hubs is goung to practice his skills this time, it's been awhile since he's done much butchering.

I'm going to butcher some onto pieces, some into quarters, and whole chickens. Should be interesting. I might try to do chicken sausage too.
 
Do you have full size animals there Meg?
Yes, we do. We've got mother cows and heifers. Have you seen Chewy? I'll share a picture of her, but we AI'd her (Highlander) to another Highlander bull and I'm really really hoping she took! If she did and has a heifer we'll keep her, but if it's a bull calf we're going to eat him. Apparently Highlanders have really good meat :confused:
