BYC Café

Here is Gedit poor hen. She was just alive when I got to her but the shock was just too much.
If the people in the main house hadn't been here she would still be alive.

So sorry, Shad. You've had a rough time with stoopid humans lately. :hugs Hope next year is better.

Hope the Caff had a lovely Christmas on the whole.
For those of you freezing; it is warm & occasionally mizzling here. The rest of the country is still burning so feeling particularly blessed.

Debby, DD3 made ‘your’ pistachio cookies (I know I’m using the word ‘your’ liberally, but you know what I mean.) They were delicious! Very simple, but rich at the same time.

They had an extremely unusual dough texture that we couldn’t wrap our brains around. Very dry & crumbly. We eventually added just the tiniest bit of milk to pull it together a bit. We didn’t make the icing for them, but I wished we had. The poor kid had been baking her toes off & there just wasn’t enough time or energy left to get the icing on them. Next time (maybe later this week for New Years) we’ll make them again & will definitely make the icing. This recipe is absolutely a keeper. Thanks!!!

(*side note: DD crunched up too many pistachios & gave the leftover nuts to the chickens. They went absolutely crazy for them. Made me think of Shad & his walnuts.)

I need to seriously detox. I’ve had a lot of sugar, but that’s not as bad as all the processed, preserved, poison that I’ve been eating. Having holidays & people in town with 2 hospice dogs has made it impossible to take the time to cook real food. I’ve been popping biscuits out of a can & making boxed & mass produced frozen food with fillers & preservatives ... All major no, no’s for my particular constitution. I think I’m done feeding outside guests till February, so hope I can get back on track this week. I still see too much sugar in my future, but as long as it’s real sugar with no fake additives that’s not a problem.

I thought if the anemometer read 0 in Wyoming it meant the machine was broken.

They should post warnings like this for no wind around here:

Thanks for letting me know Roomy! I'll definitely add those to my "to make" list now!
