I wanted to get rabbits for fertilizer and meat, but I didn't want to do it until we had our land we want to purchase. That way I can make sure they're really secure.

We had meat rabbits when we had our little farm in Florida. Plenty of fertilizer and the meat was pretty good. But personality-wise, I liked the chickens (and goats) a lot more.

Did you use the goats for meat?

The farm we have become friends with wants us to get these meat goats. She says the females we can use for milk and entertainment then we can off the males

That was the original plan, but they were too darned cute and fun, so we didn't. They did do an awesome job of clearing a forest-type acre we had though.

We are saving for land and we want 11+ acres but we will settle with 5+. We were going to use the goats to clear land for the coops, dogs, barn, and other stuff.

I probably wouldn't use them for meat, but that's because I'll fall in love like I did with the chickens

Yeah. HeiHei is a silver sebright. Squatch is a black jersey giant. HeiHei is just eye candy pretty much.

I probably have 20 I don't know how many chicks I have kept... I think I kept 5.

I have more chicks hatching so I'll keep more from that batch depending on what they look like

I remember this now. You told me about Hei Hei's namesake and I actually watched Moana. That little rooster was cute, and actually so was the movie.

Does everyone at your club call you "Uncle George" Sour?

Many years ago we had a group of teen aged kids - mostly sons of members - who all adopted me as 'Uncle George'. Gave me another group of kids to worry about as they would share their mishaps/misdeeds. People tend to do that with me ? Maybe I should have been a psychiatrist/psychologist. Princess said I could cure my own problems. I generally let folks talk their problems out with no judgements unless their path will harm them or others. Given time most find the right direction.

That's so cool Sour! It's good for younger people to have an unbiased party to unload on.
