Wow you and that dog have sure had an eventful life!!! Haha glad everybody was okay!! Does he have his dew claws? I have read it is easier for dogs to get out if they have them. They dig in with them. And use them to make sharp turns and stops and stuff too And ours always held things with it haha

Many people have died jumping in to save animals so glad you had the sense not to and glad he had the sense, smarts, and determination to keep trying!! Because sadly many do give up or people panic and dive in after them and then they both drown. :(

Or often the human will drown trying to save the dog and the dog will climb out fine on its own.
I think it's important that people learn to swim and survive in water I'm those situations.

They did a survey in the area that I live in in about 90% of people don't know how to swim. I was shocked!

Climb out fine and thinking " yah, I finally got him!" no more louzy dry kibble for me!

I'm glad he got out because I'm pretty certain I would have made the stupid move to go in after him!! I know how dangerous it is.....but I'm not sure I could stand by and watch him drown. :hit He is from conformation lines so he has no front dewclaws....they were removed before I got him. My BCs have theirs. I would not elect to have them removed....it's like taking their thumbs off.

That's amazing! I am a good swimmer but it's the cold that would have been the issue.....My friend who owns the property/pond was not far away so there was another person there.

Yeah, even if you know how to swim, hypothermia would set in fast I’m sure.

There are ways to prevent that. You're supposed to remove your wet clothes instantly and there's a few other things. I can't think of them right now. My mind isn't thinking right tonight 😂

Yeah, it always amazes me how many people don’t know how to swim!! I need to start swimming again. I haven’t in years and am not a very strong swimmer. I know how and we did swimming lessons when we were little and got pretty far in them, treading water in the deep end and all that, but that was years ago and I’m out of shape now. :lau

That said, even good swimmers drown in those situations as well as in white water in rivers and rip currents in the ocean, etc. it’s a freak circumstance and the strength of the water pulls you under or in the case of ice, the cold and hypothermia will set in fast.

:lau OMG!!

Yeah, I definitely could not watch it either!!! And yeah, I agree!! I’ve watched a few videos and read an article that convinced me they’re important haha

True but you can’t exactly remove your clothes when you’re in the water. :lau

My inlaws have had battles with fire ants. They sound terrible!
I know someone who lost chicks to fire ants. They are absolutely vicious! Have you seen them floating in mats on floodwater? It's crazy.

No when you get out you do... There are ways to prevent it. I think keeping moving is another way too.

My friend dies some polar plunge I'm Massachusetts every year and she knows what to do so she doesn't get it.
