I think that is more true with some hatcheries than others. Personally I wouldn't order from one that is going to throw in a couple of cockerels I do not want.


Same when I moved here in '79. I think the only thing that was open in Burlington on Sundays was the news stand. Not sure there even is a news stand anymore.

McMurray has sent packing nugget cockerels with orders I was part of.

It was ok for me since I process the extra cockerels but it would not be good for the average backyard flocke

I ordered the cones the plucker that fits a drill my cohort as I call her very dear friend
said she is willing to do this with me even more so of the easy of doing I saw to
the worst parts

I have 5 up with 2 silkie actually 8 up there, two take no mothering.
1 silkie has 1 peep all to herself she is so proud

I canceled the chick order. Found a TSC that had California White pullet’s. But the guy stuck a white leghorn in the box and I think it‘s a cockerel. I will ask dh if we can take it back. It’s the only one that doesn’t have black spots on it and it’s larger than the rest of the chicks.

I love this Pic. Mommas raising chics is so sweet.

Penny I which TSC would have has a silkie. They are so cute.
My youngest daughter bought some chicks a couple weeks ago and she got a silkie. The love it!
