I chuck them off if I'm concerned about their food intake

I do this each morning when doing chores. I'll take her off and toss her out, give her a jab if she needs it to snap out of the trance then move on to releasing the flock, feeding and cleaning. This way I can monitor what she's doing and make sure she (and only she) gets back in her nest then close the maternity ward door.
They have to get back to the nest through the run and pop door and past the feeders. Veronica was not stopping to eat.
She's low ranking and the other hens are going after her when she's off the nest because of her broody behavior.

my low-ranking broody has risen in rank as a result of being broody, so maybe Veronica will too; I would certainly expect her to fight back more as the hormones really start to kick in.

Veronica didn't have much say in the matter!



I thought I had! I spoke with two humans today!! TWO! I was told they reset my account and linked it to the correct email address. That was the problem. My account was linked to my work email address for EIT which went bankrupt almost 7 years ago. The bad news is, she must have written my email address down wrong because there is nothing in my in box so I have to call them...again.



I'll ask the Blue Herons!



Well mark your calendar. I put 6 eggs under her tonight. She's a nasty, mean, shrieking, biting, TWISTING broody!! I can deal with just about anything but the biting. And she goes the extra mile with the twisting.



And DH and I will when we get into the next unbearable heat wave. I've been wading in that creek for decades!

We made the drive up to just south of Lake Ontario to get the bantam eggs. It was pouring rain here when we left but quickly passed. It starting raining again on the trip back...

Good morning Café. Thanks for the coffee.
Long day yesterday.
Bought nearly all the tile and supplies I need for mom's house, returned and repurchased the 4 windows and bought a few miscellaneous other supplies.
I had to sort through all the tiles on the shelf to find enough that weren't broken and cut my finger in the process. I left drops of blood all over the broken tile.
I was still short 8 tiles. I asked to order them. Was told the system won't order them because it says there are 2 cases in stock. I held up my hand and said, "yes, but they're all broken and I don't want them". Nothing they could/would do for me. And I have to order the bullnose myself too.
By the time I left HD I had a sore finger, a raging headache and a face mask drenched in sweat. Woke up to the final insult of a big pimple on my nose.

I hope today is better!

Have been enjoying some cool days and nights.
Got some heavy lifting chicken chores done.
...now bracing for 8 days of near 90.

Today is supposed to be the last day of triple digits for us. Tomorrow is only supposed to be 92F. More triple digits next week though
