How do the chickens tolerate this weather?Just been out to do the water rounds. The main house weather station unit reads 42C with 46% humidity. It feels hotter than that. Not a lot is moving around out there.
Thankfully the afternoon breeze has started up. It's a real life saver here. The topography of the valley catches wind from the South and the North and funnels it up and down the valley.
They do very well. They know all the best shade spots. They do their early morning forage and head to the shade spots before it gets seriously hot. If I could get under the bushes they can I would be there with them. Despite having had temperatures here of 45C max no chicken has died of the heat here. It's a bout shade quality I think. How do the chickens tolerate this weather?

Our registrations are annual, as well. Not sure if you can do the two year deal, but a vehicle 7yrs(10?) or older you can buy permanent plates for.Registration is annual though you can choose to get a 2 year for less than it would cost if you do 1 year at a time. No eye test for the license even when they do tell you to come in for a new picture. Otherwise you just sign the form and mail it with a check.
Annual vehicle inspections. They have gotten expensive - $65 now. Used to be a lot cheaper when it was paper but the state went with some computerized system a year or so back. The mechanics have to buy the computer thing, must have internet. The company takes a bite out of every inspection paid.
